Pirates

How do you make a pirate mad?
Take away the 'p'.

No, it's not 'international talk like a pirate day'.  That happens every September 19th.  I have pirates on the brain because I came across a recent picture of my fantastic student teacher on the day we both dressed as pirates because our weekly focus sound was /ar/.
That also made me think about the 'Treasure Boxes' I love to use after I read a fiction book to my students as a way to gauge comprehension and open up book discussion.
Check it out!

Another Marathon School Year Completed

Last week I crossed the finish line. . .

not me. . .Shaunae Miller.

of my 19th year of teaching.  I'm a runner and have always viewed each school year as a marathon.  Sometimes I'm on all fours, crawling to make it to the end and sometimes, like this year, I'm glad to be done but not totally exhausted.  That's because I had a light behavior load this year, only 1 major behavior issue and this kiddo came with LOTS of support in the form of TAs.
So whether you're also done or almost there: congrats and hang in there because. . .

So here are the top 5 things I'm looking forward to this summer:

5
 Working on TPT stuff!
4
 Biking around Anchorage!
3
 Doing a few road races!
2
 Gardening and yard work/projects!
1
Going home to Minnesota for several weeks with my kids to visit friends and family and hang out!

What are you looking forward to?
